The Battle of Yorktown

The battle of Yorktown started on September 28, 1781. This battle had a significant effect on the American Revolution. George Washington was in charge of the American army and De Rochambeau commanded the British. Since the Treaty of Alliance, the French fought against the British alongside the Americans. The American-French army outnumbered the British significantly. Eventually, the British surrendered to the Americans. This surrender lead to the end of the American Revolution.
I can't believe what I awoke to this morning. When I looked out my window this morning, I seen a celebration going on in the streets. I asked my neighbor what was going on, he said the British surrendered at Yorktown. I was and still am stunned. I can't believe the British surrendered so easy! It is official, the Americans won the Revolution! I have no idea what will happen now, what will happen to everything around me? I am angry and sad that the British did this. They surrendered. The Americans won the American Revolution.

The Franco-American Alliance

During the American Revolution, France and the United States formed an alliance. In 1778, France and the States formed an alliance known as The Treaty of Alliance. This was a military agreement, that stated , that France provided supplies for the Americas. This agreement, secured the victory for the Americas. Benjamin Franklin was the main negotiator in this agreement. This pact was signed on February 6, 1778, right after America won the Battle of Saratoga. Eventually, the pact weakened and it formally ended in 1800.
Lately, everyone is talking about how great France is. I don't know why, I've never heard anyone talk about France before. Yesterday morning I found out why everyone liked them, they are providing supplies for the American troops! I can't believe that America did this, now they have the advantage in the war! If the British lose because of this alliance, everyone will be devastated. For now, all we can do is pray that the states mess up or violate their agreement with France. Hopefully, this agreement won't mess up the British winning the American Revolution.

The Declaration Of Independence & Thomas Jefferson

The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. This document stated that America had thirteen colonies and that these colonies were independent states. This was written after the American Revolution. John Adams was a main figure in getting the Declaration of Independence ratified. He pushed independence from Britain, for the thirteen colonies. John Adams recruited Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration. Thomas Jefferson was the first person to write a draft of this document. On July 2, 1776 the Continental Congress officially declared independence from Britain. The Declaration of Independence helped America gain their independence.
I cannot believe the colonists declared independence from Britain! I awoke this morning to people shouting "We Are Free" in the streets. Apparently, Thomas Jefferson wrote The Declaration Of Independence, the document that gave american colonists freedom from Britain. Britain gave the colonists everything they needed, food, protection, shelter, and so much more! How can the colonists do this? I don't know what will happen to me and my family, will we move or executed or worse? No matter what happens, I will always believe that this is the worst mistake the colonists have ever made!

George Washington & His Military

In July of 1775, after the start of the American Revolution, George Washington formed an army. This group of troops later became famously known as the Continental Army. Even though the Continental Army had little training , they still won three out of nine major battles against the trained British troops. The Continental Army soldiers had very little food and were significantly unequipped compared to the British. Many of Washington's men argued among each other and never obeyed the generals orders. Although the Continental Army faced many challenges, they still won the fight for independence against the British.

I can't believe that the untrained colonists beat the trained British. When I awoke this morning, I heard a man shouting on the streets " We have won!" I couldn't believe what I had heard. The morning newspapers confirmed what I had heard: The British lost the war. The colonists only won three out of nine battles under the direction of George Washington. There was a rumor that the British lost because of lack of supplies. Either way, the British lost the American Revolution.

Battle of Lexington & Concord

The battle of Lexington and Concord were fought on April 19, 1775. This was the first battle of the American Revolution. This battle was fought on the Providence of Massachusetts Bay, between the two cities of Lexington and Concord. The first shot taken, is famously known as the "Shot Heard Round the World" but it is unknown who fired the first shot. There were only 500 untrained  militia men fighting for the colonies, compared to the 1,700 British troops. The British troops eventually fell                                                                                                         back marking the end of the first battle.

The battle of Lexington and Concord was a complete disaster! I can't believe the British backed down so easily, they didn't even act like their trained troops! I woke up early this morning to a loud shot, the newspapers eventually called it the "Shot Heard Round the World". I knew the colonists were going to revolt, they have no respect towards the people who protect and provide for them everyday! After The Boston Tea Party, tensions rose and more revolts occurred. I was afraid of this happening, The American Revolution.

The Boston Tea Party

The Boston Tea Party occurred on December 16, 1773. This was a protest done by The Sons of Liberty, a group of patriots that believed in and protected the rights of colonists. They boarded the ships full of tea and dumped all the tea in the Boston Harbor. The Sons of Liberty dressed up as American Indians, to hide their identities. The Boston Tea Party happened because in May of 1773, the British imposed a tax on tea imported from the East India Company. Since the colonists had no say in parliament, they revolted even more. This event is a pivotal reason, that the American Revolution was started.

The Boston Tea Party was the worst idea ever! Last night, The Sons of Liberty dressed up as Indians and dumped all our beloved tea in the harbor! Even though the British imposed a tax on our tea, that doesn't give the colonists the right to dump it. The taxes help the British pay for the tea that we drink everyday! Colonists are starting to gain confidence and revolt more against the British. I'm afraid that a revolution is on the horizon.

The Boston Massacre

The Boston Massacre was an incident on March 5, 1770. In which, the British army shot and killed five bystanders and injured six more. This happened because colonists formed a mob that threw rocks and yelled threats against the British military. Since the British army fired at the civilians without orders, the Boston Massacre became a drive for the colonists to revolt against the British. Paul Revere and Samuel Adams became the main leaders that lead the revolt, that eventually led to the American Revolution.

The Boston Massacre was the best-worst thing that could happen. In my opinion, the colonists deserved what happened, they were yelling threats against the people who protect them everyday. I feel sorry for the families that lost their loved ones in the massacre, even though they got themselves shot. I seen one of the victim's wife burying her husband today, my heart was broken for her, she couldn't control her husband's irresponsible behavior. Two of the soldiers were sentenced to death because of shooting at the colonists without orders from the general. As I walked across the street today, I seen more colonists revolting because of the incident. I'm afraid if the colonists don't stop, that we'll be in another war.

The Stamp Act

The Stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament in 1765. The act required all British colonists to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper. Contracts, licenses, newspapers, and even playing cards were taxed too. Since the purpose of the Stamp Act was to help raise money for the military, there were mixed emotions among the colonists. Some colonists seen the tax as a way to support their troops, while others seen it as just a way for the British to take their money. Both sides of the argument agreed that they, the colonists, needed representatives in Parliament.

The Stamp Act, in my opinion, was the best idea the British ever came up with. Everyday my family and neighbors would get angrier at the British for no apparent reason. Even though we did not have extra money to give the British, it went towards a great cause. When the British first came to my doorstep for the tax, I was upset but then I realized that this tax helped the people I support, the British. The money I gave helped fund the army that protected me and my family everyday. The Stamp Act was a great thing, that led to a bad thing, the Revolution.
